This month we are very happy to welcome Lorna Jane Mitchell to speak at SuperMondays. Lorna “lornajane” Mitchell is a Leeds based PHP developer, speaker and blogger.
This months event will cover Web services, a growing area of application development. In her presentation Lorna will look at web services and where they fit into our existing application architecture. The presentation will cover how services work, a bit about the types of service available, and also give some examples of usage within and between systems. Lorna is a huge PHP advocate, in the presentation she will look at the support for web services in PHP and why they are perfect partners.
Lorna is a community evangelist and can often be seen at local events like GeekUp, BarCamp, Girl Geek Dinners, as well as the PHPNW user group in Manchester which she helped to organise along with its annual conference. Lorna also takes time to get involved in phpwomen.org. Lorna describes herself as a “an incurable geek who loves all kinds of technology, from soldering hardware to low-level programming, to gadgets”.
This event will take place at the Research Beehive at Newcastle University on Monday 22nd February at 18:00. We expect that this will be a very popular event, please book your tickets early!
