In April and July of this year, Teesside University and leading production company Endemol ran two digital production courses, under the aegis of the Sustain programme.
The One North East funded weeklong courses were held in Middlesbrough and Newcastle and attracted over 50 delegates from the local media industry. Course participants were closely mentored by Endemol producers and Teesside University Academics to produce 'real world' content for public facing broadcast platforms.
Successful participants received screen credits and copies of their work - as well as a postgraduate academic qualification.
Both courses were highly successful with delegates reporting very positively about their experiences:
"I really hope you continue doing the course because I found it to be a brilliant learning experience. All the Endemol and Teesside staff were second to none. Thanks again for the opportunity".
"I was very impressed with the five day Endemol workshop I attended in April. It was a great opportunity to work with seasoned Industry professionals and gave a real flavour of working professionally within the broadcast industry. I feel that I have learned a lot and would love to attend similar courses in the future. I have learned a lot of new skills which will benefit both me as an individual and my current employer".
We are now exploring the possibility of running more of these courses, based upon demand. We would like to hear from anyone interested in taking part. Applicants must be working in the media industry (not in full-time education) or recent creative media graduates and must be based in or be working in the northeast. They must also be proficient with SD and HD video cameras and Final Cut Pro editing software.
Expressions of interest should be emailed to Teesside University Programme Leader Warren Harrison: w.harrison@tees.ac.uk
